I bought this book while I was leaving Las Vegas with a couple friends who were "knowledgable" about the game. I read it non-stop for 4 hours on the flight home. What I found out amazed me, not the least of which was that my friends had a lot to learn.
The book provides an understanding of the basic game, all the bets on the table, and a winning strategy that works. Since reading the book, 3 times cover to cover, and playing on my PC, I've played a couple times in Las Vegas, and both times walked away a winner. I fully realize this was part skill, and part luck. But without the book, I would have not had the knowledge to even begin to play smart.
Buy the book - you won't regret it. It provides a strategy for the long haul, not just one lucky experience. It explains everything. And the next time you are at the tables, you'll find out just how silly everyone else is.

Frank Scoblete is the best casino gambling writer in the world. I just finished reading this book and his other great book, The Craps Underground. They are both excellent.
Forever Craps details a five-step method for getting the edge at craps, something no other book has ever done. This five-step method includes the 5-Count, golden shooters, dice control, maximizing comps, and making the best bets for your throw. The book goes over each aspect fully and you really can apply these concepts in the casino quite easily. The dice control you do have to work at because it is a skill that takes practice but practice makes perfect as they say.
The book also contains a great biography of the Captain of craps, the man Scoblete says is the greatest craps player of all time. His story is just wonderful and once you read it, your respect for the Captain will be sky high.
This is one of the best gambling books ever written and could be the best craps book dealing with strategies ever written. I recommend it to anyone with a thirst for winning.

This is by far the best book ever written on craps. Patrick's style of writing is easy to read and very often entertaining. He gives detailed examples of different systems to use at the table. He not only describes the proper moves to make but also explains the reasoning behind each bet. Patrick briefly talks about the different bets available to a craps players and then jumps right into an analysis of the game. His style involves careful money management and a powerful regression move. By reducing your bet after a win, you lock up a profit and guarantee yourself a winner. I have played craps over thirty years and tried out hundreds of system. This is one of the top two or three systems of all time.
The first review about this book is not very fair. The author does not recommend continually placing the 6 and 8 nor does he recommend continuously increasing the wagers. The author uses placing the 6 and 8 occasionally as conditions warrant. This system controls losses better than any place betting system I have ever seen. He also describes a system for selecting pass line and don�t pass wagers which is the best I have seen. The two strategies complement each other and together make for one terrific winning system!
Although this system takes a careful reading (which the first reviewer did not do), it is an excellent performer. It wins at a very high rate, controls losses, yet allows you to run up high wins on cooperating tables and has strong built-in money management techniques.
If you want a powerful system, of this caliber, Advantage Craps is your system.

I found this a delightful book. It's very easy to read, covers all the major games, and contains lots of practical, useful advice.
And at less than $20, it's excellent value for money.
My only criticism (a very minor one) is that the Roulette section focuses mainly the "double-zero" wheel, used in the USA. The "single zero" wheel used in Europe and in Australia, doesn't get much coverage.
However, this is a minor issue. Overall I found this an excellent book, containing a wealth of useful advice.

This book gives good advice. For most table games I find it nearly impossible to get the odds in my favor. However, this book gives you some hints for doing just that. I especially thought that the Roulette theory was good. Give this a try if you are new to gambling like I am.

Over the last two decades Philip K. Dick has slowly gained in repute as one of this centuries' most inventive and prolific authors: a sci-fi auteur who cranked out pulp masterpieces by the dozen while surviving on horsemeat and methamphetamine. There are several themes prevalent in the majority of Dick's oeuvre: paranoia, drugs, the nature of God, schizophrenic time/space variations, aliens, semi-tragic characters in often archetypical clothing. _Confessions of a Crap Artist_, however, contains almost none of these bizarre themes; as one of Dick's stabs at the mainstream, _Confessions_ is a straightforward examination of life in Southern California the 50's, with `normal' people co-existing by `wackos,' both of whom, in typical Dick fashion, change places over the course of the novel.
Jack Isodore is a crap artist, a collector of crackpot theories and useless junk, a man endlessly fascinated by the world's unexplained secrets be they legitimate or not. But he is also happy and fairly satisfied by his life, something that cannot be said for his sister-in-law Judy and her husband Charlie, painted in broad strokes as a shrew and the man she uses, respectable on the surface but narrow-minded and demented when closely examined. Their `American Dream' lifestyle, the house and the farm and the three little kids, is altered/destroyed by manipulation and dissatisfaction with said `Dream', and when set in place next to Jack's lackadaisical routines and surprisingly strong moral fiber, the line between crazy and normal blurs with rapid intensity.
Along with _The Man in the High Castle_, this is among Dick's most lucid works, and probably the place novices should start first. Though a quick read, the implications and undercurrents of _Confessions of a Crap Artist_ should resonate within the reader for some time after completion, which, in my opinion, is the truest mark of a worthwhile book. Recommended.

This book is perfect because it explains a complicated game in a simple manner. It only tells you what bets work and why, and the math behind these bets. It does not discuss when to make sucker bets, even though they occasionally hit, because the math does not support making them. I have won a lot of money (and lost a lot as well) playing craps, and the system here is designed to help a bettor ride out a cold table. This book does not tell you that you are some mystical genius who will win a million dollars with only a dollar bet, so go act like a hotshot. It just tells you a safe way to play an enjoyable game. I saw a pit boss suggest this method to a very pretty girl at a Vegas Strip casino in order to keep her at the table longer during a cold streak so that all the rich sucker bettors would stay as well. It does not work all of the time, but it does work a lot and when it does not work, you at least play for a longer period of time.

I bought this book because I saw an article writen by Scoblete in Casino Player. I wanted to read more about the craps players like Dominator, and the Lee Brothers, and all the others. I saw the BJ show about the MIT people and really wanted to read about craps players doing the same thing to the casinos.
This is not a how to book on dice controll, but the story of these guys beating the casinos thru skill and knowledge of the game. A great book that shows that craps is a game that can be beaten.
I did some research and found that some of the negative reviews came from websites that are competitors of Golden Touch Craps, Scoblete's company. My how petty!

I read this book cover to cover in the two weeks preceding a trip to Vegas. It has some great information regarding the game of craps and sharpshooting but definitely has some biases on what part of the table to shoot from and dice grips that could have been approached differently. After getting through the book I setup a small practice rig, rolled and recorded hundreds of dice throws attempting to use this method of shooting the dice. I will say that it does have an effect on the end result because I recorded ratios of how often the 7 came up far below the average 1 in 6.
A couple of years ago I started to set the dice (now that I know proper sets these were wrong combos) as well as throw them the same way as possible every time. Which lead me to become interested in anything that could be done to expand knowledge in this area, after getting through this book I felt I understood the concept quite a bit more but was still skeptical of it actually working. I signed up for a private class in Vegas and had some personal instruction along many practice rolls on a real craps table. Using the hardway set (described in the book as 4 4 up and 6 6 facing the outside) I rolled a total of 3 craps numbers out of 200 shots with a sevens to roll ratio of around 1:12 (which is extremely high and will most likely average lower over a longer period of time). The thing that surprised me is the drastic decrease of the craps numbers by placing the 6 and the 1 on the outside of the dice (craps numbers are 2, 3 and 12 - taking the 1 and 6 out of the equation makes it very hard to roll a craps
number) with that particular set.
I was also able to play in an actual casino with 2 other sharpshooters and noticed we were the only ones who made profits for anyone betting with the dice. The rest of the time we bet against them and counted on the other shooters to 7 out every time. This of course isn't a science (betting on other shooters) since sometimes they will go into streaks. On my last night in Vegas I also ended up shooting 28 passes, made 5 point numbers and came out with a 7 twice when I set for it. Players at the table who religiously bet against the dice actually switch sides on my roll or picked up and left the table all together. I wasn't able to get any of the good positions stated in the book of stick right or left, even one off from either position at any time that night. Which forced me to shoot from the outside hook or corner of the table, I was still able to pull it off to some degree.
Even though I had a spectacular hand in one casino, I am still in the infancy stage of sharpshooting the dice which is also referred to as "Dice Control". You will find that you cant really control the dice but you can influence them and decrease your odds of rolling the 7 at the wrong time. I recommend reading this book as well as signing up for a class. The additional tips I learned with the one on one instruction helped me a great deal as well as reinforced techniques in the book. The book really is not enough to conquer the Craps table, but is essential before even starting down this path of craps play.

Winning Casino Craps is the ultimate book on craps. It's basic enough for the beginner to understand and get playing immediately, and yet has enough advanced strategy to give the more experienced player a statistical edge beyond any other game in the casino.
Besides covering the rules, including different sections on "right" betting and "wrong" betting, the book also distills the statistical realities of the game and outlines a specific plan to best exploit those statistics. The result? Your best chance at beating the casinos, at almost 50:50 odds. He even has a section on managing your money at the table, regardless of how deep your pockets are.
Speaking from experience, I have had excellent success with this book. There are three people I know of that use Silberstang's methods - myself, my father and another close friend. We are all up significantly over years of using it. Specifically - and this is 100% true - my friend was gambling in Tunica and was down to $10. With only this last $10 chip on the table and using Silberstang's strategy exclusively, there was a hot roll that lasted forty-five minutes. At the end of the roll the guy next to my friend had made over $3000. And what did my friend make on the same roll using the methods taught in this book? $10,000 on the *exact same roll.*

If you really want to perfect your game, pick up his book and don't just read it, study it...he knows many won't like the way he plays, but if you want to play smart, and don't have dreams of winning thousands in a day's play...this is the way to train yourself to play.

This book will more than pay for itself immediately on your next visit to a casino. It takes you from a kindergarten to a Ph.D. level. The novice can become an excellent player from this one book. Best Book on Craps I have read, December 6, 1998

This book is great! It covers a number of right betting techniques, then the don't side then a few hedges and finaly puts them all together in a trend system that wins for me at the $5 table. I have won $540 in 4 sessions starting with a $220 buy in each time (I had one really good session, 2 pretty good, and one loss). And I gave back $100 after I had ended a couple of sessions proving that the displine section of this book is the hardest to master. It is tough to quit when you are ahead... really tough. But at least this book can get you ahead. The rest is up to you. I found this book as complex if not more so than his book titled "Advanced Craps". If you want to stop playing stupid, read this book and play by the rules.

Powerful Profits from Craps

I like many casino games, but have only played Craps once, and badly. I was afraid of the game. It looked so complicated. I liked slots better, and also Keno, Roulette, Blackjack. Just about everything in the casino, except Craps. Until I read this book, I thought Craps was just too hard and too risky. That's not it, not at all.
In this book I learned what the pays are, and what the bets are, and how to make them smartly, so that I could play, have a great time, and win. It was so complicated before, but now it is not. It's easy, once you know how. This book is probably the only one that can tell you that in simple language, so that even players like me can get it.
There are many other books about Craps, for sure. I have also read Mr. Scoblete's books, and they are also good. In fact, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Scoblete in Las Vegas not so long ago. Socially, and briefly, but it was great. It turns out that Mr. Royer and Mr. Scoblete are good friends. It's no wonder that Mr. Royer's book is as good as it is. But what I think makes Mr. Royer's book so good is that he is less technical. I mean, Mr. Scoblete is a wonderful author and his works are very good, but I found Mr. Royer's style easier to understand. It made the game more personal for me, so that I could, well, get it. After I read Mr. Royer's book, I was then able to understand and appreciate Mr. Scoblete's work even more, and enjoyed his books as well. So, I think that both Authors should be your choice if you want to understand Craps.
I also think that Mr. Royer's approach is great and innovative, if you actually try to understand what he is showing you. This book made it possible for me to try Craps, and play the game well, and without fear and intimidation. It turns out that Craps is one of the best games in the casino, so it's a good thing to read this book and learn how to enjoy it.

John Patrick is dead on. I love this book because it explains a professional gambler's betting strategy and why in terms understood by a beginner. I knew very little about craps except that I liked the energy of the game. The book was great for explaining the types of bets and the pros & cons of each. The style was honest and very enjoyable. Do not expect to make the big hit with the methods in this book. The numerous small hits may not be as exciting but really add up.
I read the book, downloaded some casino software, and became disciplined with the strategies on my PC. Weeks later I went to Vegas to try my variation of Twenty Two Inside. At the end of the trip my small winnings and ultra-conservative style added up to $350 and I was (very very) lucky enough to take money from all seven casinos I played. I could sense that the macho players were mocking me when I stated 'Take Me Down'. Of course, a couple of rolls later the 7 popped up and they watched the dealer take their money. John was dead on about this too.
